The
National Centre for Human Genomes Studies and Research (NCHGSR)
is one of the premier institutes of Panjab University (P.U).
P.U is one of the renowned universities of India which was
established in the year 1882 in Lahore and after independence
shifted to Chandigarh. For more than a century it has been
generating eminent, hardworking young men and women to face
difficult challenges in every field. Dr Manmohan Singh and
Kalpana Chawla exemplify few of the students of the university
who have established themselves as renowned citizens. This
University has been selected by UGC as “University with
Potential for Excellence in Biomedical Sciences”, and
accredited five star status by the National assessment
accreditation council (NAAC).
NCHGSR
was established in the year 2002 under the sponsorship of UGC
with an idea to promote understanding in the field of
molecular biology The Centre imparts current knowledge of
biotechnology, genomics, proteomics and cutting edge research
both in theory and practice. NCHGSR offers post graduate and
PhD research programs. Over the years the centre has
established a successful M.Sc program which selects the best
students from the merit list prepared by other common entrance
test (OCET) entrances conducted in the university.
The
Centre aims at generating accomplished brains in different
areas of molecular biology, which not only serves biotech
related industries but also provides trained and motivated
persons required by other institutes. The department is one of
the best research institutes providing an excellent
theoretical as well as hand on laboratory experience. |
